Collection: Raku
Raku is a traditional Japanese technique that involves a quick firing process. Ceramic work is taken out of the kiln while it is still glowing red hot and put in a container with a tight fitting lid, often a metal garbage bin. It is then covered with a combustible material such as newspaper. The heat of the ceramic piece ignites the newspaper and then the lid is put back on causing the oxygen to be removed. This is called reduction firing and creates unpredictable and beautiful results.
